Wedding Instructions?

State of Being : WTF???!!! :x

Just attended another wedding; venue at Shangri-La hotel. Had initially looked forward to this wedding if not for the incident below.

Apparently, what irks me about this wedding is the so called 'instruction' on the attire for the night! Had received the following text message from the groom:

"Hello pls be informed that attire for sat nite is shirt and tie. Thanks and see u!"

Was shocked that guests are actually being "instructed" on what to wear for the dinner. The invitation card has already stated "Formal", shouldn't it be
left to the discretion of the guests to wear whatever they wanted then?
Utterly disgusted by this SMS.

Since I was also out visiting a relative's place before the dinner, I was all
the more unwilling to be clad in my boring working attire when out visiting! Finally turned up for the dinner sans the tie.... and shirt. Instead, I opted for
a long sleeve sweater top. In fact, I had already compromised with wearing working pants and shoes.

In the end, as expected not all guests turned up adhering to the instructions anyway...

p.s. was actually offered VIP tickets to the Chingay Procession on Thur
but had to forgo them due to the dinner. *sigh*
