Wedding Instructions?
State of Being : WTF???!!! :x
Just attended another wedding; venue at Shangri-La hotel. Had initially looked forward to this wedding if not for the incident below. Apparently, what irks me about this wedding is the so called 'instruction' on the attire for the night! Had received the following text message from the groom:
"Hello pls be informed that attire for sat nite is shirt and tie. Thanks and see u!"
left to the discretion of the guests to wear whatever they wanted then?
Utterly disgusted by this SMS.
Since I was also out visiting a relative's place before the dinner, I was all
the more unwilling to be clad in my boring working attire when out visiting! Finally turned up for the dinner sans the tie.... and shirt. Instead, I opted for
a long sleeve sweater top. In fact, I had already compromised with wearing working pants and shoes.

but had to forgo them due to the dinner. *sigh*

Inbound Flight (IST - SIN)
Entertaining comedy to start off the 12-hr inbound trip!
Dozed off while watching the 2nd movie - Shopaholics with its zany characters and storyline.
In fact, doubt anyone even heard of the 2005 movie starring Cecilia Cheung, Lau Ching Wan & Jordan Chan...
Finished the "movie marathon" by selecting The Promise (无极) as the last inflight movie prior to arrival in SIN. Another epic fantasy movie directed by Chen Kaige and starring Cecilia Cheung with crappy dialogues and storyline.
Lucky didn't go to catch this movie in the cinema when it was first released with much hype and publicity then. Simply a lacklustre script!
Outbound Flight (SIN - IST)
State of Being : Looking forward to Istanbul/Ankara
There are way better teen movies that borders on similar themes. Nothing remotely dark or edgy about this film at all.
Selected to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest next. "Messy" storyline which certainly does not live up to its earlier prequel Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
IMHO, this 2006 pirate adventure film is two hours and 20 minutes too lenghty for my liking. Kept thinking when would the movie end while I was watching it! =P
Overall, would have luv the director to animate Oldie also since the dog cast in the show simply does not resembles Oldie one bit.

We ordered a Reunion Dinner package meant for 8 people but having feared that it would not be enough for the 10 of us (7 adults & 3 kids - 11yo, 6yo & 2yo), we added $48 for an extra head. However, felt a lil cheated cos throughout the course of the dinner, we found no distinct difference in the portion that was served for the normal 8 people or the supposedly 9 headcount! Consider a lesson learnt for future Reunion Dinners...
Nevertheless, a warming Reunion Dinner but I had to admit that I felt a lil jet-lagged still (after just coming back from Turkey the evening before) during the entire dinner. =P

Babel
The movie weaves together 4 compelling stories taking place in different corners of the world - Morocco, Japan and Mexico, interlocked with characters who are related to one another in one way or the other.
The overlapping narrative style of story structure is somewhat similar to another movie Crash. While Crash centres on racial and social tensions in Los Angeles as its theme, Babel attempts to explore on the lack of communication spanning across different cultures.
Overall an entertaining and thought-provoking movie even though I felt that the story on the rebellious deaf Japanese teenage girl, Chieko, is kinda out-of-place with the rest of the other three narrations.
Final verdict:
Plot - ****, Effects - NA, Substance - ****
