SuperStars Exhibition
State of Being : Seeing (Asian) Stars
Longing to "see" some Asian SuperStars? Then head on down to the National Museum of Singapore to catch the much publicised Leslie Kee's SuperStars Exhibition (27 Apr - 4 May). Free admission.Despite the raving reviews for our local renowned photographer Leslie's SuperStars project, it is a pity that the MDA approved only about 200 out of the 400++ pool of photos and left out most of the controversial pictures from the exhibition. We are offered instead photos of Singapore local artists like Zoe Tay, Adam Chen, David Gan *puke*, etc to make up the number. *sigh*
Clearly, the Singapore censorship is still too conservative where nudity is involved, amid its proclaim for trying to grow and nurture the art circle here. In fact, the MDA has even gone to the extent in banning the SuperStars charity book in Singapore, despite its hefty price of US$300, thinking that this is something that is going to corrupt Singapore youth in the long run! I rest my case...
p.s. be sure to also check out other exhibits at the museum like the
"Animated Films from Germany Exhibition"
as well as the
"Images from the Arab World Exhibition"
