FIFA Fever

State of Being : Bored

The FIFI World Cup is here again but I'm not the least affected by the late soccer matches since I've never been a avid fan of soccer. However, I was surprised that some of my female colleagues are actually interested in the games. Wonder whether are they really interested in the games or merely interested in ogling at the dashing footballers?? =P Anw the World Cup fever is so hot that even Lego (makers of the children building blocks) has come up with a mini soccer mania exhibition at Raffles City Shopping Centre! Do catch the exhibition if you happen to be around the area...

X3 vs Da Vinci Code

State of Being : Excited

For this last installment of the X-men franchise [X-men: The Last Stand], new mutants are aplenty and the special effects are awesome. But alas the plot is a disappointment. The director races through the entire movie, concentrating mostly on the battle scenes between the mutants and the soldiers, and showcasing the powers of the many cameo mutants in the process. There is simply no character development at all.

However, read from the newspapers that the conflict between mutants and normal humans is often compared to conflicts experienced by minority groups such as Communists, Jews, African-Americans, Homosexuals, Catholics etc. Highly impressed that a comics could actually draw parallels from historical and present events and reflect concurrent social issues in the storyline.

Final verdict:
Plot - ***, Effects - ****, Substance - *****

p.s. click here for a complete info on other X-men characters

While the plot for X3 was relatively thin. the storyline for The Da Vinci Code was highly rivetting.

Watching the movie is parmount to attending a Bible class, but from a different perspective. It is no wonder that Christian devotees all over the world boycotted the film as the movie attempts to discredit the fundamental faith of the Christianity religion. Whether fact or fiction, the author - Dan Brown is clearly an adept novelist. He must have did alot of research on medieval hostory and events relatng to the Christianity religion in order to pen them into the best-selling 2003 novel.

Final verdict:
Plot - ****, Effects - NA, Substance - ****

LilliPutt anyone?

State of Being : Childish

Been a l-o-n-g time since I last played golf, miniature golf that is, which is 7-8 years ago at Sijori WonderGolf in Sentosa. This time round, an outing was organised on a Mon evening at LilliPutt for some team bonding! Started the evening with dinner at East Coast, thereafter proceeded and reached the course at 8pm. The place was relatively quiet, no golfers except for the 6 of us.

We get to 'tour' Miniature Singapore as we putt our way through the 18 putting stations - all modelled after familiar Singapore landmarks such as Changi Airport, Suntec City, Turf Club & Esplanade, etc. Most fascinated with the visual animation and special sound effects as our balls navigates its way around Singapore Port, 'rides' on a cable car at Mount Faber, splashes through the Fountain of Wealth, etc. Had the worst performace at the Suntec City course, where I had problems putting my ball into the Fountain of Wealth. 2 of my colleagues managed to score a hole-in-one at the Singapore Port & Mount Faber courses and were even awarded certficates as momento! Hahaha.

We eventually finished the game at 930pm and received as a parting treat from the place - lollipop!! Overall, a kawaii place for all the young at heart and definitely a fun outing venue for the entire family.

MOS Virgin Trip

State of Being : Tipsy
Finally get to visit the infamous club - Ministry Of Sound (MOS) on a Fri night with free SMS invites from a colleague. Glad that there wasn't a last min change in plan again like the previous time cos Zouk turned out to be a real bore then (see previous posting). IMHO, the music played in "Smoove" was the best, followed by "54" (retro/disco house music), the Main Arena (Trance/House music) & "Pure" (Chillout/Lounge music). Found myself booty shaking & head throbbing along to the trippin' break-beats and deep R&B, laced in funky bass rhythms in "Smoove". Simply awesome!!! Quite sure that my "chiong-sters" colleagues will definitely be planning another outing to the club again soon... =P
