The N-Day & More ...

State of Being : Unwell

Here's a recap of the week...

Mon & Tue - Nothing much other than meeting up with TL & CH for lunch.

Wed - Went to the bi-annual event FHA 2006 during lunchtime and was trapped by the heavy downpour. Met up with our vendors at the fair and saw some interesting equipment for manufacturing mooncakes, packaging fishballs etc. The architecture design of the Expo was definitely flawed as the shelter meant for the eateries & walkway did not keep out the rain at all! *duh* Only managed to return to the office at 430pm after we assessed that the rain was not gonna to stop at all and hence decided to brave the rain to get to a colleague's car. Conf call with PG lasted only 20min. Had expected the discussion to last >1hr hence had rescheduled a dinner appt with a uni friend to Thu instead.

Thu - Dinner appt with KF was not what I had expected. IMHO KF's Mandarin was heavy with M'sian accent and the dressing was kinda dowdy. Recalled KF looked better in uni days. May be obligated to meet again for dinner as KF had offered to pay for the meal that day...

27 Apr is also the N-Day, unveiling the nominees and the area contested. Sad that I will not get to vote again as there was a walkover. What's a democratic country when most of its citizens do not get the opportunity to vote at all?? Hopefully will get to see more alternative voices in the house after the GE.

Fri - Though the weekend is near but alas the flu bug has finally caught me.... *Sneeze* Hope to recover soon so that I can go shop for the new Levi's Engineered Jeans.

JB Shopping Spree

State of Being : Tired but Satisfied

Set off for JB yesterday morning around 930am. Was hesitant to cross the borders on a public hol but finally gave in to TL since I was also dying for a short break. Reached Kranji station around 1015am and there was already a fairly long queue for the bus to the causeway. Yikes! Was beginning to regret my decision for agreeing to go on this trip....

Boarded the bus around 1045am and the bus ride took about an hour due to the traffic jam. Sigh. Clearing the customs was fairly a breeze over at our side but a nightmare await us at our neighbour's checkpoint! The scene was pretty chaotic and the queues were moving at snail's pace. We first joined the queue at 1230pm and reassured ourselves we could probably cleared the custom at 100pm. Seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to hours. Gosh! We only cleared the immigration checkpoint at 152pm!!! Can't believe that it took us 1hr & 22min to clear the custom. Grrr.........

FF >> We had our lunch @ the House of Sundanese in City Square from 200-300pm. Shopped around the complex from 300-830pm and I bought the following clothing items: 1 Abercromie Tee from FOS (real cool!), 1 Mickey Tee & 1 Mickey S/S Shirt from Add-On (SIN outlets don't seem to have such designs). Really pleased with my shoping spree!!

FF >> We finally left the complex at 915pm and dreaded the unimaginable queue again at the checkpoint. Luckily there was none and exiting the country was certainly a breeze! Overall, a tiring but satisfied day...

Zurich 4 Real?

State of Being : Uninterested

This week sees the arrival of the 'others' - people from FH&R. All are instructed to dress & look their best, 'wayang' if you were to ask me. Anw their arrival follows closly after last week visit by our fellow Zurich colleagues, one of them a German lady whom I will be reporting to in future. Hence no choice but to 'show face' and had dinner with them last Wed.

Pretty awkward as there were only 4 of us! Yikes! Was practically smiling throughout the night and to act really interested in the conversation. Not that the topics were dry but I was just uncomfortable having dinner with my future lady boss. Also she kept asking me to relocate to Zurich. For real or merely joking? *ponder*

p.s. did I mention that she also commented on my nice set of teeth and smile! Haha =)

Zouk Bore

State of Being : Disappointed

Went clubbing with colleagues yesterday on April's Fool Day. I was looking forward to my virgin trip to MOS but alas my colleagues decided to change the venue to Zouk instead. Big mistake IMHO. The place was considered relatively quiet by Sat standard. The crowd only started coming in after 12 midnight in Zouk. But the dancefloor was empty throughout the night at Phuture. Nevertheless did shake a lil on the dancefloor that night! *shake shake*

p.s. the next outing is scheduled to be on a Wed "Mambo Jambo" night at Zouk
